Both Sheidel and Keen Array have posted winning form at black type level through their respective Spring Carnival preparations this time in, but Sheidel’s proven form in Perth races suggests that she will arguably figure as the horse to beat, of the two Lindsay Park runners.

Hayes has been thrilled with the condition of both runners since they took their places in the Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m) at Flemington last weekend, and is confident that they will both perform to a typically high standard in the Winterbottom Stakes 2016.

“We gave them a little leg stretch on Saturday morning and they were flying,” Hayes told AAP.

“I expect them to run well.”

Sheidel began her racing career under the guidance of Lark Hill-based horseman David Harrison and has posted a commendable career total of fourteen wins and five minors through twenty-five starts, but has undoubtedly found her best form since transferring to the Lindsay Park operation.

Resuming this time for fourth in the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m), the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor placed second to Hellbent in the MyPunter.com Handicap (1100m) before taking out each of the Group 3 Cape Grim Beef Steaks (1200m) and Group 3 Sensis Stakes (1100m).

Sheidel placed fifth in the Darley Classic last time out and is currently available at particularly generous early Winterbottom Stakes odds of $10 with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Keen Array has been a strong and consistent performer throughout his entire racing career so far; posting six wins and a further four minors through only sixteen appearances.

Running a close second behind Voodoo Lad in the Listed Fruit Supply Stakes (1200m) first-up on September 3rd, the Bel Esprit gelding savaged the line to win the Listed Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m) before repeating the dose in the Listed Caulfield Village Stakes (1200m) on October 12th.

Placing fourth in the Group 2 Salinger Stakes (1200m) and seventh in the Darley Classic most recently, Keen Array can be taken at Winterbottom Stakes odds of $15.
