Trainer Jim Taylor believes Barakey’s winning run is set to come to an end after drawing barrier 10 for the 2012 Winterbottom Stakes this weekend.
Barakey has so far won all 10 of his race starts and is chasing number 11 in the Winterbottom Stakes.
Taylor feels that Barakey may lose his crown to top competitor Travinator, who himself has won seven of his nine race starts.
Travinator has drawn the inside barrier of one for the race.
“I was shattered when he drew 10 and Travinator drew one,” Taylor said.
“I would think Travinator would be hard to beat now.
“From out there they’ll all be looking for him.”
On the other hand, Travinator’s owner-breeder Colin Pearce was thrilled with their draw of one.
“I’m really happy with that,” Pearce said.
“He’s trained on really well.”
While punters are currently favouring Barakey and Travinator, Pinwheel has made the trek over to Perth to attempt to win his first Group 1 race.
Trainer Peter Snowden feels Pinwheel in in with a fighting chance in the race.
“There’s no issue. As long as he works well he’ll be there Saturday,” Snowden said.
“Soundness-wise he’s 100 per cent and I just wanted to give him another day to get over the trip.”
